Challah 6- Strand Braid

As promised, here are the photos for the six strand braid. The recipe that I used is a real keeper- the dough was easy to knead and braid. The baked loaves maintained their shape and browned gorgeously. Not to mention, they were light and fluffy. I'll be making this recipe often.

1 kilo flour
1 tbsp salt
4 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp yeast
2 cup water
1/2 cup oil

Roll out six strands and lay them side by side.

Cross the first and sixth strands and then bring the first one down into the middle. There should be two strands on each side of this one. Bring the left most strand up all the way across to the right side.

Bring the strand that is up in the air on the left down to the center.

Bring the right most strand up all the way across to the left. Keep repeating until the strands are all used up.
This is the resulting braid.

These are baked six and five strand braids. They were really yummy. I hope you'll try braiding!
